Hope everyone is enjoying this glorious weather. We recently did a beach themed display for the window of Wool Bath. Of course this meant making the decorations ourselves. We searched the internet for sea creatures, and made a few all in various sizes. I decided to make some beach huts to hang up and came up with this pattern.
CROCHET BEACH HUT
Rico Creative Cotton Aran 100% Cotton, 85m, Shade Red 05 (A) 50g, Shade Natural 60 (B)50g, Light Blue 3 (C), 50g, Shade Yellow 63 (D) 50g
NOTES: Use yarn A, B and D for one hut. Yarn C, B and A for one hut. Yarn D, B and C for one hut.
Using A, Ch 21.
Row 1: Dc into 2nd ch from hook, dc across, turn.
Row 2: Ch1, dc across, turn.
Rep row 2 for patt.
Cont working in stripes of 2 rows B, 2 rows A 4 times more.
Next row: Ch1, dc2tog, dc across to last 2 sts, dc2tog.
Cont in stripes of 2 rows of each colour, rep the last row until 2 sts remain, dc2tog. Do not break yarn.
Round 1: Ch1, dc down side of roof by working a dc around each row end of the next 10 rows.
3dc around dc of next row (this will be corner). dc into each row end down side of 19 rows.
Rotate work – work into the opposite side of starting ch.
Work 3dc in first ch. 1 dc in each of the next 18 ch. 3dc in next ch.
Dc around each of the next 19 rows.
3dc in next row.
Dc around each of the next 10 row ends. Sl stitch to join round.
ROOF - cont in A, starting at top of roof, work down to corner, turn, back up to top, down the other side and finally back up to top as follows.
Row 1: Ch 1, dc in next 11 sts, 2dc in next st, turn.
Row 2: Ch1, dc in next 25 sts, 2dc in next st, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, dc in next 13 sts, join with a sl st.
DOOR - use a third colour.
Row 1: Ch1, dc across. 14sts
Rep last row 5 times more.
MAKE UP – Sew in ends. Sew on door, using photo as a guide.
