I DON'T LOOK GOOD IN A HAT

Hi, this is my first blog post on my new website. I am just going to waffle a bit and introduce myself.  My name is Fran, shortened from Frances, which I only get called now if I am either really naughty or up in court. I have been knitting, sewing and crocheting from my pre teens to adulthood.  Some may say I am an expert. I would say no to that, I do know a lot, but am always learning.

I have made clothes all my life, my wardrobe is full of knitted, and crocheted garments as well as frocks and skirts.  I seldom wear trousers, not because I am a frilly feminine woman, but because I am short and chubby. Gone are the days of jeans and cropped trousers. Although I do love a good pair of shorts.

My writing style will be informal and some humour will always creep in.  So be prepared. I am called a knitwear and crochet designer, but I am just a woman who likes to make things.

I try to encourage everyone to have a go.  Everything I have learnt has been the result of lots and lots of mistakes.

When I run a workshop, I tell everyone, that nothing is impossible if you try.  The worst thing you can say is 'I can't do that', positivity is the key.  No, I haven't turned into a Zen Knitting Guru, I just think it's all about laughing when things go wrong and trying again.  After all, it's only knitting/crochet/sewing, not the end of the world if you drop a stitch or muck up a pattern.

I will try to write a blog post once a week.  They will be a mixture of knitting and crochet and I will tag each accordingly.

The title of this post is called 'I never look good in a hat'.  I have included some pics as proof and they will describe me much better than words can.  I don't take myself seriously at all.

It was really cold that day.  I work part time in Wool Bath, so decided to wear all the knitted things I could fiffind.

Just to prove it's all hats, not just knitted ones.
